Kolymbia

Rhodes is a classic family holiday destination but the resort of Kolymbia on the northeast coast of the island isn’t all that well known. It should be — beautiful child friendly beaches, scenic mountains and a rugged coastline make this place a joy to look at. Kids will love the Holiday Village Rhodes, a hotel with five pools and plenty of activities for kids, including an adventure park and a pirate ship. Evening entertainment shows will keep the whole family entertained and when the kids go to bed Mum and Dad can enjoy some cabaret or bingo.

The Riviera Maya

It might not be the first place that you think of when you think ‘family holiday’, but the Riviera Maya has so much to offer. We’re talking world-class beaches, daytrips to ancient ruins and the world’s second biggest reef, the perfect place to go snorkelling or scuba diving. Families with young kids will have a great time at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa. You don’t have to worry about leaving the kids at the kids club here if you want to go out on a daytrip — activities such as Beach Olympics will keep them really happy.

Olu Deniz

Why spend every minute of the summer on dry land when you could also be up in a hot air balloon in Olu Deniz for part of it? This beach resort in south west Turkey is one of the most exciting places to holiday in the country, with opportunities to admire the landscape from a hot air balloon or while going paragliding, or to just soak up the sun in the bay of the Blue Lagoon. Take a boat to Butterfly Valley, where you’ll see nature in all its glory, as it’s home to some 100 species of butterfly. With a kids club and evening entertainment, the Liberty Hotels Oludeniz is the place to stay in Olu Deniz.

Negril

For a family holiday that combines relaxation, activities and reggae, head to Jamaica this summer. The sun shines the whole year round on this island and in Negril, a resort on the west of the island, your family will discover an unexpected paradise. At the ClubHotel Riu Negril, you’ll have access to Seven Mile Beach, one of the most gorgeous beaches in the world. The hotel itself has a cracking entertainment programme, including a mini-disco for budding dance stars, and three outdoor pools will keep everybody cool in the Jamaican sunshine.

Port des Torrent, Ibiza

Contrary to popular opinion, Ibiza isn’t just a place where you go if you want to go nightclubbing. The island has a quieter side which is perfectly suited to families going on holiday. The town of Port des Torrent on Ibiza’s west coast takes things at a very leisurely pace. A picturesque setting, two waterparks and two golf courses make it a grand place for families to unwind, with just the right balance of active and peaceful activities. Kids will have a terrific stay at the Family Life Club Aura, a family friendly hotel which is just a few minutes’ walk from the beach.
