How to Have a Wonderful Romantic Honeymoon in the Canary Islands

In terms of a honeymoon in Spain, the activities and leisure opportunities in Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife provide the perfect set up for you to spend some quality time with your loved one as you get your new life together underway. If you’re looking for the best way to spend your honeymoon, we’ve got you covered with some of the most romantic activities in some of the most stunning locations in the Canary Islands.

A picnic on Mount Teide, Tenerife

What better way to spend a day of your honeymoon than a picnic at the top of Spain’s highest mountain, gazing at the hills and landscape spread out beneath you? While you feed each other chocolate-dipped strawberries and top up each other’s champagne glasses, you’ll be treating yourself to one of the best views in the whole of Tenerife. By night this is even more romantic.

A spa day in Gran Canaria

After the day trips and late lunches, a few hours of solid relaxation are just what the doctor ordered. The Canary Islands are equipped with some luxurious hotels for the job. Check out the Platinum hotels, which are designed with relaxation in mind. In the Wellness centres you can soak in a hot tub, revitalise in a steam room or loosen up with a massage, and outside of them you can cool off in the hotel pools.

Lanzarote beach day

Lanzarote offers visitors adventure in the form of hiking around Timanfaya National Park, but the beaches make the island a location just as romantic as it is adventurous. Couples will enjoy the hours of sunshine while drawing pictures in the sand or strolling along the beach. Many of the beaches have earned blue flags. Take photos as you and your loved one watch the sun sink gently into the waves.

Dinner on top of a volcano

As far as cuisine preparation goes, it doesn’t get more exciting than the El Diablo restaurant. The El Diablo restaurant uses geothermal heat from a dormant volcano to cook the meat and fish on its menu. Since the restaurant is situated in Timanfaya National Park, a view of the Fire Mountains will accompany your romantic dinner out.

Dance all night

Between days on the beach and dinners at night, you might be feeling a little restless. How about a night of dancing with the love of your life? Gran Canaria is a hub for nightlife, especially in places like Puerto Rico and Playa del Ingles. Let the bass get you moving at a club like Pacha in Playa del Ingles, which plays everything from house to RnB, or try something more chilled out like the Black & White Piano bar in Puerto Rico.
